My original post highlighting Tafadzwa’s amazing work was done back in 2021, in March 2025, we took some time to catch up on her artwork and career progress.
We chatted about her family’s journey from Zimbabwe to London Ontario.
I was able to find an updated picture of Tafadzwa courtesy of CBC News London.
Our original post was created back in 2021 when her fascinating background and experience came to my attention from an Instagram post from Cadogan. When he described the connection between an artwork created by the artist honouring the conservation and preservation of a 19th Century Fugitive Slave Chapel at Fanshawe Pioneer Village in London Ontario.
In addition to being an artist, Tafadzwa also works at the London Public Library.
Our discussion in March 2025 focussed on artwork featured on her Instagram account. When speaking about this work, Taffy indicated her interest in weaving Renaissance art traditions with elements from her family’s cultural background by highlighting textures, textiles and ornamentation familiar to her. The artwork featured below was used as a piece of promotion that she created for a SOLD OUT workshop, “Rungano: Storytelling Collage with Tafadzwa Maposa”.
Tafadzwa conducted this workshop to a sold-out audience in February 2025 at Museum London. She is interested in booking more workshops throughout Southwestern Ontario for Black History Month (February 2026) or Emancipation Day, August 1, 2025, or 2026.
